Daniels – Jerry (IISTTSIITSAATOOSII -First Holy Sun) it is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, Jerry Daniels Sr at the age of 65. Jerry was survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce Daniels his Sons, Dion, Stephen, Jerry Jr, Jonathan, Christopher (Lori), Tommy (Jerri) daughters Leslie Ann (Spike) Lisa Marie, and his special girl Kodee Leigh. Also survived by his Brother Russell and Sister Julie. Jerry and Joyce were the very proud grandparents of 29 grand children and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his Father George, Mother Georgina, Brother Arnold, and Son Warren. Jerry was originally from Swan Lake Manitoba, and then in 1983 he transferred over and became a Siksika Nation member. In 1988 Jerry made his Cursillo, his theme was “It takes Jesus to make a house a home”. Jerry worked for Siksika Housing in the 80s, all though after a work-related injury, he then picked up his favourite pastime, drawing Native Artwork, this past time turned into his lifelong career. Jerry Daniels is known across Canada and some US states as a world famous Native artist. He dedicated his life to his artwork. Aside from carpentry, his artwork and fatherhood, Jerry was known for his hunting expertise. Jerry also played hockey with the Blackfoot Old Timers and he loved to watch the Calgary Flames, he was a huge true fan. These are only a few to mention of who Jerry was and what he loved. Nothing however could match the love he carried for his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family by far was what he valued, and cherished the most. The family would like to thank everyone who has helped comforted and assisted in any way in the past week; your thoughts, prayers, and gestures were truly appreciated. Jerry’s wake service will be held from 11 AM to 9 PM, at the Parish Hall, Sunday February 10th 2019. Funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika Nation at 1 PM on Monday, burial to follow at Paul Walker Cemetery, with feast to follow at the Parish Hall.
