It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend. Edward was born on August 26, 1940 at the Blackfoot Hospital, Siksika Nation and passed away on October 21, 2018 with his family by his side at the Foothills Hospital. He was 78 years old at the time of his passing. Edward was a well versed culturalist who took pride and knowledge of the traditional ways of his people by participating in powwows and Sundances. Edward was a Thunder pipe holder and a member of the Prairie Chicken Society. He also followed the catholic way of life, making his Crusillo in 1988, theme song; “I saw a man” and working in the cursillo many years after that. Edward also played in the Sundogs band and played hockey with the Siksika Braves. He was involved with the Rodeo, participating in bareback, bull riding, roping, team roping, and loved and owned horses. Edward won the Tom Longboat Medal for Boxing in 1968. He was also a Lance Corporal for the Canadian Armed forces. He worked with tribal police, housing, and public works (roads) and always took pride in everything he did. He was an active member for the Calgary Stampede Indian Village and won the Champion Stampede Meat Cutter. He later became a SBOE board member, and a member of the Nasoowa. He and his wife Bernice were foster parents for 38 years and provided a loving home to many children. Recently he gave his life to the Lord in the Fall 2017, he favourite scripture was John 3:16… He loved all his kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren and gave them all indian names and nick names. Anyone he meets, he would give them names, He gave the nurses at PLC Blackfoot names and they were so happy about the names they were given. #1 Merle Haggard Fan. He was survived by his wife of 58 years Bernice Wolf Child, His Children; Clara (John) Hardy, Patricia Wolf Child, Mary (Jerry) Wolf Child, Dora Powderface, Dean (Vivian) Wolf Child, Carolla (Henry) Red Crow, Eddie (Joset) Wolf Child, Anthem Wolf Child, Leanne Wolf Child, Nadene Wolf Child, Darryl Wolf Child, Tyler Young. Adoptive; Marlon Many Guns, Larry White, Stephane Paul, Garth Solway, Tabias Provost, Eulalia Running Rabbit, Colleen Little Light, Michelle Thrush. He is also survived by his brothers; Robert Wolf Child, Clarence (Jackie) Wolf Child. Numerous grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. Edward was Predeceased by his parents; Clara & Edwards Wolf Child Sr., his Sons Glen Black Horse & Torry Low Horn, his Sisters & Brothers Violet, Adeline, Emma, George, Victor, Leona Wolf Child. Best friend Randy Ayoungman. We would like to acknowledge extended relatives from the Cutters (Big Snakes), Yellow Fly, Two Horns, Leathers (Solways), Black Rabbits, Stevens, Pretty Young Man, Calf, Low Horn, Spring Chiefs, Spotted Eagles, Tailfeathers Families.
