We are saddened at the passing of Derek Melvin Bear Chief, age 45 of Siksika Nation Alberta, he passed away peacefully on Sunday June 23,2019 at the South Campus Hospital, Calgary Alberta. Derek Melvin Bear Chief was born on March 19, 1974 on Siksika Alberta to his Father, Melvin Bear Chief and Mother Shirley Cat Face. He is survived by his loving spouse Mary Celine Bull Bear. He had four beautiful children with Tina Silva. His Children, Derik (DJ), Dylan (Pickle Juice), Telia (Princess) and Tiara (Monkey). His step children Arianna, Justin, Camille, Sheila and Abby, Jolaine, Kyle, and Brianna. His sisters Lori Cutter (Sean), Madeline Big Tobacco, Carla Melting Tallow, Bethany Peterson, Avery Bull Bear, Chris Bull Bear (Alexis), Angel Stevens(Jason) and Jan Bear Hat (Jeff). His Spiritual Children – Colton Bear Chief, Ty Maguire (Taylor), Allison Melting Tallow, Albertine Pantherbone, Nelly Pantherbone. His spiritual brothers and sisters, Fred, Leonard, Frank, Mike, Freda and Laura Keshane. His special Uncle and Aunts, Christine Little Chief, Wallace (Theresa), Clement, Arthur, Roy (Elaine), Robert (Gwen), Joan, Alvina, Celeste (Horace), Patsy, Stuart, Brian, Darlene, Arlene, Olivia, Lena, Hanks. His special brothers and sisters, Murray (Carlene), Shannon (Sam), Craig (Dallas), Robert “Pappy”, Misty, Warren, Susan, Brandi (Joey), Cheryl Lynn, Raquel, Danielle. His adopted grandkids, Kiowa Maguire and Chloe Bull Bear. His Relatives – Cat Face, Cayenne, Smiths, Spotted Eagles, Stimsons, Little Chief, Inksters, Latourneaus and Black Kettles. The Family apologizes if we missed anyone. Derek served his Lord and Savior he served whole heartedly and with passion. He was a pastor for the Saints United Restored and Established. S.U.R.E House ministries. He was blessed to have numerous spiritual Mothers, Slyvia Popowich, Vera Tourangeau, Vicki Ulm, Maureen Keshane, Cheryl Bear Chief, Catherine Sleigh, Jenny Low Horn, and Joy Satterwhite. He was a Born Again” Christian who shared his Faith through his leadership, teachings and became a father to many. He was involved in the Billy Graham Ministries, Samaritan Purse and other Christian organizations. He travelled all over North America receiving his ordainment under his Spiritual Father, Apostle Eugene Satterwhite. Derek was also a sports fanatic and enjoyed attending Calgary sport events with his best friend Dad Melvin as well as with his children. His favorite teams were Calgary Flames, Stampeders and Dallas Cowboys. He was also a great artist, giving the world many gifts such as, poetry, art work and his travelling gospel band. Derek was a graduate from the St. Mary High school, Calgary Alberta. He was employed with the Siksika Health Services as their Benefits Administrator. Derek is preceded in death by: His Grandfather Walker Bear Chief, His dear Mother Martha Bear Chief, His Spiritual Mother Sylvia Popowich, His Spiritual Father Mel Tourangeau, His Biological Mother Shirley Cat Face, His sister Sherry Rain, His Uncles Francis Bear Chief, and Hector Winnipeg. His Aunt (s) Donna L’hommecourt, Theresa Bear Chief, Delma Fox, Marie Bear Chief. His cousin Dale Bear Chief, little cousin Kristana Bear Chief and His Special Nephew Cash Bear Chief. Wake and Funeral Services will be held at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor, Siksika Alberta on Friday June 28, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Service Saturday June 29, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Burial Service at Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
