Apumakii (Becky Marie Cutter) 61, passed away surrounded by her children, grand-children and family on Saturday January 12, 2019 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital.
Apumakii was born on June 14, 1957. She was raised by her adopted father Pahkiitahn (joe Black Face Chief). She cherished her father and was very close to him. Apumakii was very proud of her 26 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. She loved horses and in her early days, she was known as one of the “Night Riders”.
Apumakii was a humble woman that always opened her home to family and friends in need. Her brothers and sisters were cherished and was always known to be around them. When she would be missing in action we’d know who to contact; her brothers Victor and Hector or Sisters – Flora and Stephanie.
Apumakii was known to many as a good friend, silly friend, sister, auntie, mother, grandma. As the late Father Bernie Black would say “Another home-sick angel finally going home’. Apumakii was a residential school survivor and she was known for her strong nature, fighter and an inspiration.
Apumakii leaves behind to mourn; Children: Jocelyn (Lars) Duckchief, Adrienne Black Kettle, Jason Red Crow, Sisters: Linda (Ronald) Backfat and Flora Cutter. Brothers: Hector Cutter, Victor Cutter, Jordan Cutter, Calvin (Verna) Cutter and Clayton (Lavena) Cutter. As well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Apumakii was predeceased by her parents Benny Blackhorse (1957) and Leona Cutter – Pahkiitan (1996). Her children Natasha Manyshots (2001), Vanessa Red Crow (2008) Cody Black Kettle (2015). Siblings: Merlin Cutter, Donna Cutter, Gary Cutter, Loretta Manywounds, Francis Cutter.
Apumakii had many relatives from the Blackhorse, Axe, Running Rabbit, Cutter, Bigtobacco, Mayfield, Blackface Chief and Turning Robe families. The family apologizes for anyone we may have missed.
Wake services will be held on Friday January 18, 2019 at the Gordon Yellow Fly Arbor 6:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church 1:00pm.
Gravesite to follow at the Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
