Anna Godor of Bassano, beloved wife of Zoltan passed away at Bassano Health Centre on Friday, February 15th, 2013 at the age of 82 years.

Anna was born at Dorog, Hungary on July 6th, 1930 and received her education there. She worked as a seamstress and telephone operator and in 1957 she escaped communist Hungary with her husband and 3 year old son, landing in Halifax on March 23rd. After a long train ride West and a one night stopover in Winnipeg, they continued on to Lethbridge where she worked on a sugar beet farm. The couple moved around the area and settled where they could find work; Champion from 1957-58, 1958-60 in Brooks where their daughter was born, 1960-64 in Natal, British Columbia, back to Brooks in 1964 and later that year to Calgary. Anna was a very hard worker and while in Calgary she was employed at a cardboard factory, and as a seamstress at Colonel Belcher Hospital, Bow View Nursing Home and a Boys and Girls Club group home. In 1985 she retired and in 1992 they moved to Bassano. Anna enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, sewing, crochet and would often leave on pedal bike for adventurous camping and mountain climbing getaways.

She was predeceased by her mother, father and 5 siblings. Anna is survived by her loving family; husband Zoltan of Bassano, son Zoltan Jr. of Calgary, daughter Susan Hoefling and her husband Barry of Calgary; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Hoefling and his wife Suzanne, Matthew Hoefling and his wife Julia, Daniel Hoefling, Louis Godor and Mitchell Godor and great granddaughter Emma Hoefling.

Funeral Services were held at Thom’s Funeral Home and Reception Centre in Duchess on Thursday, February 21st at 2:00 PM. Reverend Peter Baek officiated. Immediately following the service a lunch reception was held at Thom’s Reception Centre.
