December 31, 1951 - December 14, 2018
Black Plume, Adolph William (1951 – 2018)Adolph William (Billy) Black Plume was caring, humorous and above all our humble Dad. He passed away on Friday December 14, 2018, rejoining our grandparents, Sam and Mary Lucy, uncles Buddy and Melvin, and our auntie, Debra. Adolph lived for his families, spread laughter and the wide circle of friends that his life brought him. His life’s work encompassed all of these things. It began with Adolph as an Orderly, and then a Health Care Attendant, responsible for the care of patients in various care facilities and finally ending at the Siksika Wellness Center. Along the way he made wonderful lifelong friendships with whomever he crossed paths with. And although he never thought of himself as ever in need of care, his love for working with patients frequently blended with his encouraging sense of humor. We are told that Dad would often be heard sharing silly jokes and words of encouragement with his patients. His love for family surpassed his two daughters and extended on to many surrogate father relationships with adopted sons and daughters. Sadly and steadfastly our Dad tried numerous times to acknowledge his shortcomings and change the manner in which he lived his life. But to all other adversities and challenges, our Dad refused to give up and lay down. We are proud of our Dad, and will miss him in ways too numerous to count and in ways we do not yet realize. All of us who knew Dad will continue to remember his humor and silliness and genuine care and love for those who knew him and of course his part in our lives. Celebrating our Dad, Adolph, are Shannon and Darcy Genest; Stacey and Glen Eagle Tail; Lavra and Jim Adamson; Laurette and Ken Vare; Katherine Black Plume; and his four beautiful grandchildren, Matthew, Tyson, Kaitlyn and Katie. Also celebrating our Dad is his adopted family: Sharon and Arthur Water Chief; Donna & Ivan Red Gun; Jackie and Kellie Spring Chief.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Foothills ICU Unit C & especially Nurse Brigitta, and to the Alpha House Society – Sarah Sandall and staff.
